Two Months Old.....98th Percentile!!!

Baby Jack is growing so!!! He is two months old and is now holding his head up when on his tummy, laughing (yes, actually giggling), smiling at faces (he even smiled at our friend's four month old baby yesterday), he is enjoying baths, he loves being help up in a standing position, he is gurgling and babbling a bit, he loves his bouncy seat and the stuffed animals that hang above it, he nurses all of the time, he drinks 5 oz bottles when I'm at work, and is still the most beautiful baby in the world!

At his two month appointment today, he weighed 14lbs 3.5oz (95%) and was 24 1/4 inches long (98%) and had a head circumference of 41 cm (75%). His percentages keep going up...so he is growing faster than average.

He got his first shots today (four sticks!). And he cried and so did Paul and I. It was awful! He was so happy and laughing at Daddy and then he was stuck...and his little heart didn't know what happened...and he screamed. Poor little thing. He is not a chubby boy so there is not a lot of fat on his legs...and the needle was so long.

We also have thrush (a yeast infection of the breast and baby's mouth.) It is terrible. Painful and itchy. But breastfeeding is going better....I am so glad that I am breastfeeding Jack. Daddy is home with him all day, so breastfeeding is "our" time to bond and be together. I am actually enjoying it. I am so glad we stuck it out...and it is obviously doing wonders for him...he is growing like crazy!!!

The Most Beautiful Baby in the World...7 Weeks

Little baby Jack turned seven weeks old on Wednesday. Paul took him to the Pediatrician's office to be weighed, as I have had some major concerns about Jack. He cries a lot (just about all of the time unless he is sleeping or eating). He is only awake for approximately 30-40 minutes at a time without crying. He wants to eat every two hours (which may sound normal...but he is nursing for @ 45 minutes...and then wants to eat again about an hour and fifteen minutes later.) I am pumping while at work...and he is drinking 3-4 4-5oz bottles while I am at work. I can barely keep up. I have gone to pumping four times a day during my work day in order to help increase the breast milk. It is exhausting...and I am worried about my baby. The Pediatrician said to stretch out his feedings to every 3 hours and to only nurse for 30 minutes at a time. I have been trying this, but Jack wakes up an hour early and screams for food. He is mouthing his hands and gets very frustrated. I don't know what to do.

He weighed in at 7 weeks at 12lbs 8 oz. I am not sure if this is great, but it is certainly an adequate weight gain. (He weighed 10lbs 14oz. two weeks earlier...so a gain of 1lb 10oz in 14 days). So I guess he is getting enough food. Could he have colic?

When he is alert and not crying he is sooo cute! People stop us everywhere we go to comment on how beautiful he is. I know that all mothers feel that their babies are the most beautiful in the world, but we have received so many comments from people (ie., "I am not just saying this, but that baby is the most beautifully striking baby I have ever seen. His features and complexion or so perfect." etc.) A nurse even got on the phone immediately to call her husband to tell him about the "most beautiful baby that she had ever seen." He photographs very well too. He is so photogenic. We took him to a modeling agency (at 6 weeks) and they have accepted him as an infant model. We will see what happens with that.

I can't get over how beautiful our baby is and it is so thrilling to have so many other people stop us to say that they see something special in him too! Our beautiful Baby Jack.

Where has the time gone? Six Weeks Old!!!

Today is my baby's sixth week birthday. Six weeks ago at 1:08 pm I saw my sweet "Baby Jack" for the very first time. Today, just six weeks later, I am back at work. Baby Jack is now smiling at us on occasion. He is able to hold his head up a bit when he is on his tummy. He is doing better with nursing (it doesn't hurt as much) and he has had professional pictures taken three times! He loves to sit in his bouncy seat, sleeps in his bassinet and naps in his crib. He met his cousin, Olivia for the first time two weeks ago and spent the weekend with her last weekend. He has been to Walmart, Applebees, church, Meijer, Iacanos, Babies R Us, Old Navy, Baby Gap, the Mall, my office, Target, and a few places I am sure Ihave forgotten. He is the sweetest most wonderful little baby I could have ever imagined. I feel like the luckiest woman in the world!

I, on the other hand, have failed to lose any weight since his birth. I have to get back into shape...but I have been overindulgent and sedentary while at home. Now that I am back to work full time, I am hoping that that will change.

Today is Paul's first day as a true stay-at-home Dad.....and I am hoping that things are going well on that end. He is such a good Daddy to little Jack. I am so happy and so lucky!
