Rolling, Rolling, Rolling.
Little Katie has been rolling (back to front and front to back) for several days now. (Jack never really did roll so it wasn't disturbing to me that Katie wasn't rolling until now). I often come back in to the room to pick her up from her nap and she is on her tummy looking around. She is also sitting better and can stay sitting up on her own for 10-20 seconds without falling forward...and can sit up on the bed on her own for 5+ minutes at a time.
We gave her her first solids yesterday. Oatmeal mixed with breastmilk. She ate it...made some faces....but didn't seem all that impressed. I was surprised because she seems so interested in food and what we are eating and drinking that when we finally fed her she was surprisingly unimpressed.
She is also doing the cutest thing. When she wants to be picked up she lifts her little arms up into the air toward you. It is so cute. She twists around following you with her little arms up in the air like that if you don't pick her up right away. She is very smart. She understands a lot. I can ask her
She is also getting her second tooth I discovered it early this week. Our little girl is growing up so quickly! She will be 6 months in about a week. Where is our little baby going?

I'll Stay With You Always Mommy.
My sweet little boy. When we were out driving today, he asked me why I was sad when he turned three. (He apparently remembers me crying and hugging him.) I told him that I was glad that he turned three....but that at the time it made me a little sad because it meant he was growing up and that someday he would be all grown up and he would move away from me.
My sweet boy then said, "Oh Mommy, I will never move away. I will stay with you always Mommy. Even when I am 43 I will live at Berkshire with you....even when I am 54 I will still live there with you."
My heart swells with my love for him as tears well in my eyes knowing that someday he will leave me for good....I just want to hang on to a small piece of this sweet little boy forever. I love you my first baby.
Love,
Mommy
My Baby Boy and Me
It's three AM, they're all asleep,
and no-one's here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.
His little hand is feather light
Tucked up against my chin.
I hold his tiny hand in mine,
and stroke his baby skin.
The house about us creaks and groans,
The clock hands creep around.
He snuggles closer to me still,
And makes his baby sounds.
I love these quiet hours so much,
And cherish every one.
Store memories up inside my heart
For lonely nights to come.
All too soon he'll be grown up,
His need for mama gone.
But until then I still have time
For kisses and for song.
Time for quiet hours like this
With him cuddled in my arms,
Where I wish he'd always stay
Protected, safe and warm.
And yet I know the day will come
When his tiny little hand,
will be bigger than my own.
He'll grow to be a man.
But until then he's mine to love
With no one here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.

Baby Tooth, Baptsim, Five Months Old!
Where has time gone? It seems that Jack was an infant for so long....and little Katie is just flying through infant hood before I have time to stop and enjoy it.
She turned 5 months old on May 2nd and got her first little tooth on the bottom left on that very day. (No wonder she had been so fussy and drooly!) At 5 months old she is an amazing baby. She is so aware of people and language and everything around her. She smiles all of the time (though she does cry when put down as this baby believes in being held all of the time and will not sleep without being held or her Mommy sleeping right next to her.)
She is understanding so much. If I ask her "where is the kitty" she will look around to find the cat in the room. If I ask her if she wants to go to sleep (when she is tired) she will bury her little face into my chest and nuzzle in to let me know that she is tired and wants to go to sleep. When she does something good (like gives me a kiss when I ask for one...I clap my hands and say "yay" and she smiles...she knows that this is somehow related to what she did. It is pretty amazing that she is making these connections already.
She absolutely ADORES her brother and will look at no one else when he is in the room. She looks at him and smiles and laughs at everything that he does. She will lay on the bed happily for long periods of time gurgling and "talking" if Jack is there with her. She just loves him. (And he adores her...thankfully).
She is holding things in both hands now and getting them into her mouth. Her favorite thing to do is to jump in her Jumparoo. She will jump in that thing for 40 minutes to an hour sometimes...laughing the whole time! She isn't sitting up completely by herself but over the last few days she is sitting up for 10-20 seconds at a time before she starts to fall to one side.
She was Baptised on April 22, 2007. Her Godmothers are her Aunt Jana & Barb Belville (Jack's Godmother and one of my best friends). Her God Father is her Uncle Chris. She was so good at the Baptism. She never cried the whole time. Even when she was passed around to everyone at the reception...she just smiled and went from person to person. She stayed awake most of the afternoon and morning without a nap and NEVER got crabby. Then when everyone had gone, she went to sleep at 4:00pm and didn't wake up until the next morning. People were amazed at what a sweet girl she is.
Her hair is still light and er eyes are still dark, though I am not sure if they will be brown or a greenish brown color when all is said and done. She has beautiful fair skin and rosy cheeks. I must admit that she looks more and more like me (though there are factions that swear that she looks like Paul). My baby pictures and hers look very very similar...as do her pictures and pictures of her cousin Olivia at the same age.
Little Katie is just growing up so fast. On one hand it is exciting...because I am finally getting to meet my baby daughter as her personality develops. On the other hand, it is very sad as I feel that her babyhood is slipping through my fingers and I am not ready to give up my baby yet. My last baby is growing up and there is nothing that I can do to stop it.
Mary Katherine....I love you so much...you will always be my baby no matter how big you get.
