"What we do next?"
That is Jack's new phrase. As soon as we finish something, get dressed, get into the car, etc., he will say "What we do next, Mommy?" "Where we go next?" He started this about two months ago when Nana had taken him to Chuckie Cheese. When they were done and Nana loaded him into the car seat in her car he exclaimed: "What we do next, Nana?" Since then he wants to know the plans and wants to know constantly, "What we do next?"
Jack is also still very very interested in numbers and letters and begs to play with letters. He couldn't be happier than when and adult is playing with him and helping him "spell". He always is begging us to help him "spell something". He can spell four words by himself: Jack, Mommy, Boo and Poop (don't ask!) And he can sound out all of the letters of words....he just hasn't jumped to the point of putting all of the sounds together to make it into a word. He is pretty amazing though.
The other day he asked me to paint his toenails rojo (he loves to use Spanish words whenever he can squeeze them into our conversations). So, after he had asked me a few times, I agreed and painted his toenails red. He was so proud as now his toes looked "just like Mommy." I told him that he better not make a big deal about them because Daddy wasn't going to like it very much. He then looked at me with a terrible look on his face and said, "Daddy is going to kill me!" Where did he get that?
Then last weekend, when he wanted to go upstairs to see Nana while she was sleeping and I told him to get back downstairs, he said, "Mommy, stop yelling at me!" What????
Then yesterday, when I went outside to move the sprinklers and told him to stay inside while I did it, he opened the door and began to follow me down the steep deck stairs outside. Paul immediately tried to stop him and Jack said, "Leave, me alone!" and then as Paul grabbed his arm as he was going down the stairs, Jack twisted his arm free and said, "Leave...Me..A..LONE!!!!"
Then while sitting with his Nana...after she told him that they could eat and then they could read a book, he looked at her and said, "That sounds like a good idea!"
He's not even 2 1/2!!!!
We have a little stink pot (a smart one) on our hands.
Jack is also very social. He walks up to everyone and says, "What's your name?" all smiling and friendly. Most children his age won't respond and I see his little face saddening. It breaks my heart to see that.
My little baby (He does not want to be called a boy or a kid as he insists that he is a "BABY!") is such a little mini-adult. But at night when he snuggles up next to us in bed and falls into that deep sleep, he looks so sweet and innocent that he is for all purposes my tiny little baby....FOREVER!

First Baseball Game
Jack saw his first baseball game on Sunday. I received tickets to AEP's Suite for the Columbus Clippers so Paul, Jack and I took Mom, and Paul's Mom & Dad to the game.
It was a hot day so it was nice to be up in the air conditioned suite (we had the whole thing to ourselves) with a refrigerator, tables, chairs, a microwave and "front row" seats. Because we had the whole suite, Jack was able to move around freely during the entire game and to talk to his Grandma and PopPop that he doesn't get to see that often.
It was free major league hat day, so we all selected New York Yankee's caps (I wanted to get some Cleveland Indians Caps...but Jack insisted that he wanted a "Yankee's" hat...so we all got those.
We spent about $60 on food and drinks...so it wasn't really a free afternoon of entertainment. But it was a fun day for all and a wonderful first baseball experience for Jack. Oh, and the Clippers won in the last two innings, coming from behind! It was exciting.
(Oh, and when we got home, Nana went out and bought Jack a little glow-in-the-dark baseball and bat. Jack loved them and was playing with them...but then said, "But I don't have a mitt." That little stink pot...how does he even know about "mitts.")

Infatuation with the "Little Pee Pee."
Since Jack has been potty trained (8 months ago already), he has slowly become more and more infatuated with his "pee pee." He is constantly pulling it out of his shorts or underpants, pulling on it, showing it to us, talking about it, stretching it, etc. Sometimes, he even tells us that he has to go potty, so that we will take off his pants and underpants just so that he can run around naked.
He talks about it and calls it his "little pee pee." When he gets up in the morning, he wants to show his Nana his "little pee pee" and when he is naked after a shower, he wants to run out and show Nana that he is naked and I can hear him: "Awww...Nana look, a little butt and pee pee."
I know this is just a stage...and I certainly do not want him to feel self conscious about his body...so I just enjoy his toddler freeness...and want to remember these cute days while they are here.
