Two More Teeth & Starting Solid Foods

Baby Jack got his third tooth (the left upper) on Saturday, July 19....and his fourth (the right upper) came through on Sunday, July 20th! I can't believe how fast our baby is growing up. It makes me sad in a way.

We started him on solids for the first time on Friday (he will be six months old in a week). He really seems to enjoy eating. We knew he was ready (he is so interested in what we are eating all of the time, he takes drinks from a cup, and chews on pretzels and other finger foods). Before I know it he will be walking (he still isn't even trying to crawl, but he can sit up on his own really well.)

I just can't believe how fast this is all happening!

A Note About Me!

I get so involved with Jack and his life...that sometimes I lose my sense of "self". I don't really care right now, how I look...it's all about Jack. However, I know in my heart that is not a good thing to do. So....three weeks ago I joined Weight Watcher's At Work. I weighed in today...and in the three weeks, I have lost 7lbs!

This is a great start for me. I am still about 30lbs over what I weighed before I started all of the fertility treatments two years ago...and 70lbs over what I weighed when I got married in 1995 (I was *very* thin)...but it is a start! I want to be a thin pretty Mom!

My Baby the Model

On July 8th we drove to Cleveland for Jack's photo shoot for an American Greetings card. The photo shoot took place at the American Greetings Headquarters. We arrived at 9:00 am and they took us back to one of the studios where we dressed Jack in a white sleeper that they had available so that he would look "unisex'.

They laid him on a table set up to look like a bed, and covered him with some blankets and took some pictures. They were hoping to get some pictures of Jack sleeping...and he cooperated. About 30 minutes into the shoot, he got sleepy. I took him to a small room off to the side and nursed him until he fell asleep.

We put him back into the little "bed" and they shot for another hour. All the while little Jack stayed sleeping. (Mommy had to keep singing "Rock-a-Bye Baby" the entire time to keep him from waking when we had to move him around). When he woke...he was as happy as can be...so they took some more photos of him sitting up. They also took some feet shots. (His feet are as cute as can be.)

His pictures looked darling (we could see them on a computer as they were taken.) He is soooo cute, I can hardly believe he is mine!

We were there for over two hours...and Jack was as good as can be. He never cried once...and really seems to LOVE the attention. He really likes to be the center of attention and has no fear whatsoever of strangers. He is a great little model!

They told us that he would be on a card, or gift bag sometime next year...and to start checking the WalMart and Target stores this fall as they carry the new lines of baby cards first. How exciting...little Jack on a card!

We took the opportunity to visit with my sister who lives in Bay Village while we were in the Cleveland area. We got to see her house for the first time...and we even took Jack and cousin Olivia to the "beach" (Lake Erie) for a little dip after lunch. It was a wonderful day!

Baby Jack is 5 Months Old and is Going to be on an American Greetings Card

Jack is now 5 months old!!!! He weighs in at a hefty 20lbs 10oz. He is still "off the charts.' The little guy has lots of hair, two teeth and can sit up unsupported for a few seconds at a time! He has shown no interest in rolling over any more (he rolled from tummy to back 3-4 times when he was just 3 months old...and really nothing since!)

Last week we got a call from his modeling agency saying that their client, American Greetings, was very interested in him but that they wanted to be sure he hadn't grown up too much since his pictures (kept on file at the agency) were taken.

So, we sent in his 5 month old pictures (thinking that they would reject him as he has soooo much hair and doesn't really look like a "baby" anymore) and they called back first thing Monday morning and said that American Greetings thought he was adorable, that they LOVED him, and that they want to do a card featuring Jack!!!

Wow, Jack on a greeting card. We are thrilled. His photo shoot will take place on July 8th at 9:00 am in Cleveland. (I hope he isn't going to hate us for this when he is a teenager.)
