Jack

My sweet little boy, when asked if he wanted to help name a baby sister, asked..."Luke John isn't a girl's name is it?" Poor little thing. We have been taking about the name Luke for a boy since before I was pregnant. He has been talking to the baby and calling "him" Luke since we found out I was pregnant.

It made me cry when he said that with his little baby voice. I don't know why but my heart is breaking because my baby...my little boy...the sweetest thing that I have ever loved will never have his brother "Luke." He will never get to share his bunkbeds, or sneak up at night and read comic books with him, or wait up for Santa and wish for trains and boy things with his brother. He didn't really want a sibling until we all talked about what they could do togehter and his little eyes lit up...and since that time he has wanted a brother so badly. It breaks my heart to hear his sweet little voice...never complaining that he will now have a baby sister...but just trying to figure out how things will change now. He is so sweet and I love him more than anything on this earth. I just wish I could make his dreams come true.

I see him growing up in so many ways. He is gettting so tall and so independent. He talks so much and so well even though he pronounces some words incorrectly (plyaing=Flaying popsicle=popisule, corn=forn, girl=dirl, etc.) but his vocabulary is huge. He uses words that I think are unusual for a 3 year old, like: version, hesitate, etc. (although last night for the first time, he said "skeleton" instead of pronouncing it "sketolin" as he always had in the past...it was a bit sad...because that was always such a cute thing that he would say.)
He knows his whole address including the zip code, he can give directions, street by street to his home, he can count up to 30 and backwards from 15. He is over 41 inches tall and weighs about 38 lbs. He loves to swim and play the the pool and in the bathtub. He just needs to master floating on his back to move on to level 3 in swimming lessons. (Even in level 2 he is over a year younger than the next youngest child and is 4-5 years younger than some of the kids in his swim class.)
Jack is my amazing boy. My first baby...the love of my life. He is my amazing boy and I will never let him be overlooked when the new baby comes along. I love you sweet baby.
