She is really starting to try to talk to us now. She LOVES Jack...and chooses to look at him and smile at him above all others if he is in the room. (He adores her too...and wants to be with her all of the time...kissing her, touching her...helping with his "sissy.") She is grabbing things with both hands and putting them in her mouth. She cries a lot when she is not being held and refuses to sleep more than 15-20 minutes unless you are lying next to her or she is being held. She giggles and laughs...and does really well twirling herself around when she is on her back or on her tummy. When people meet her they always comment, first on how pretty she is, and secondly on how alert and strong she is. They cannot believe how interested in her surrounding sand people she is and how well she sits up with just a little assistance.
This little baby seems wise beyond her years. I really believe that she is trying to talk already. She will look me right in the eyes and then make these varying sounds with varying intonations as if she were speaking in another language. She honestly looks at me as if she were saying something and as if I should know what it is that she is saying.
She had her four month old check up yesterday. She weighed 14lbs 5oz. (75%), and was 25" long (75%) and her head was 16cm. I am a little concerned as she doesn't seem to nurse a lot and Paul says that he has trouble getting her to finish even small 4oz bottles...but the pediatrician said that she is growing well (even though her percentages went down a little). I guess just having had a HUGE child like Jack first (at this age he was almost 28" long and weighed 19lbs 12 oz!!!) it makes you worry that something is wrong.
That said, Mary Katherine is a happy little baby and seems to be much more physically agile than Jack was. She also seems to be more focused on social interaction at this age. (I can't imagine what she will be like at 4 as Jack is out talking to every person that he sees as if they were long lost best friends. He has so much social confidence and is so verbal and social that I cannot imagine how someone could be more social and verbal than him!)
Happy four month birthday little baby girl. I am so thankful that God brought you into our lives!
