Little Katie Boo turned six months old on June 2, 2007. I cannot believe that our little baby girl has been with us for six months already. In a way it seems like she has been with us forever....on the other hand, it seems like just yesterday that I was pregnant and wondering what I was going to do with a GIRL!. What a thought that was!!!
Mary Katherine now has two teeth (both bottom ones). We started her on solid foods (so far she has sampled baby oatmeal, carrots, green beans, & sweet potatoes). And she does not care for them at all. After weeks of grabbing anything that I was eating and shoving it into her mouth and then crying when I take it away from her....she has no desire to eat the baby food that she is allowed to eat.
It is strange, Jack loved to eat anything! Katie on the other hand is dying to eat solids...but she wants OUR food. At the restaurant last weekend (we went out to eat with Jana, Chris Olivia, Ella, Mom & Grandma after Olivia's recital) she grabbed my garlic bread and sucked and chewed on it for the longest time. When I took it away from her (because she was starting to break pieces off into her mouth) she went CRAZY. Then today, when eating a Weight Watcher's ice cream bar, she went crazy trying to get her mouth on it...and once she tasted it....she wouldn't let go of it. She also likes good things....like bananas and nectarines that I give her in her little net feeder....she just doesn't like baby food at all.
She can sit up without any help and can lean over an pick up toys and then pull herself
Like Jack...Katie is very ticklish and laughs out loud when tickled. (She is ticklish on the bottoms of her feet, the inside of her thighs, on her tummy, the underside of her neck, and under her arms.) She smiles when I come home at night....so I think she really recognizes me (I haven't seen her do this quite that way with anyone else.) When I put her down on our bed, getting ready to nurse her...she cries and cries in anticipation. (Hurry up Mom!) Then, as soon as I crawl into bed with her....she coos and giggles and rolls over as close as she can get to me and snuggles in to nurse. She is so happy at that moment....and I love the feeling of her snuggled up to me like that. I could stay there forever!
At her six-month appointment Mary Katherine weighed in at 16lbs 15oz (70%) and was 26 1/4 tall (70%). Her little head is in the 50%. I asked the pediatrician about her moving down the charts like she has (80th to 75th to 70th) and she said that it wasn't a concern that Katie was an exceptionally, "fit and active baby" and that because of that she would probably never be a chubby big baby like Jack was.
I love my little fit and active baby girl....more than anything in the world...I love you Katie Boo....don't grow up too quickly my little cuddle bug.
