I know that I have some serious updating to do. So much has happened! We did not get pregnant with out Frozen Embryo Transfer and are considering doing one final IVF (paying for it ourselves) as we would really like Jack to have a sibling to grow up with and so that he has someone as an adult, since Paul and I won't be here forever.
Jack is understanding some of what having a brother or sister means now. (He is amazingly smart and intuitive!) After spending the weekend at my sister's house with his 4 1/2 year old cousin, Olivia, whom Jack idolizes, Jack had a change of heart about wanting a sister or a brother.
This morning while lying in bed, I cuddled him and told him that I was so thankful that God made him my baby...and that I was so very lucky! (That is exactly how I feel, so I share it with him whenever I get the opportunity!) He looked at me and said, "And you don't want any more babies, Mommy."
I told him that I did really want a baby so that he would have a brother or a sister to love and to love him back. He didn't say anything in response to that....but his little brow was knitted as he was clearly thinking about it. About 20 minutes later, he looked at me and said, "Mommy, I only want a big giant sister." (Obviously, looking for a way to describe someone like his cousin, Olivia.) My sweet little monkey!
Sometimes, I think it would be better that we not have another baby. (More time to focus on Jack....financially, we would have more to offer him.) But then I think about him not playing out in his sandbox with a sister or brother...or not having someone to wake up on Christmas morning so that they could go downstairs to see what Santa brought...or someone to talk to at night as a teenager....and I think that we must give this one more try.
At a doctor's visit (for the flu he picked up after our Disney Cruise) Jack weighed 37 lbs (without shoes, but with clothes on) and was 39.75" tall (without shoes).
